Blondie: "Check the two together and see how their song was different in 1980".
Let me guess, without peeking -- the 1976 explanation was "current truth". The 1980 version was "New Light".
Am I right?
the wife and i were expecting a health worker to call at our door 10:30 this morning and about 10;35 two women appeared at our door so i opened up thinking they were who i expected ,so i was take back a bit being caught off guard when they identified themselves as doing a bible work.. this is just the gist of what took place & not a word for word conversation.. a woman about in her fifties her companion about her twenties.the older woman did most of the talking as she read to me the scripture from her phone " in the last days critical times hard to deal with...etc.etc.and she went back and emphasised that we were living in the last days because of what that scripture said.. i made the comment that the scripture just about sums up human history in any given time.then i went on to say that this day and age is the best time in human history overall given the advances in technology ,medical procedures ,the overall standard of living being higher and so on .but they insisted on we were living in the last days.then i said different religions have been claiming that for the past couple hundred years.. then to throw them a curve ball i asked if they were mormons ?
oh no we are jehovah`s witnesses.had i been prepared for them and not caught out unawares i would have taken a different tact.i then asked the older woman how long she has been a witness and she said 36 years so i then said to her you must have seen a lot of changes in your religion during that time which she agreed with.
( the light gets brighter).

the year is 1983.. two new james bond films are slated for release, one of which will star the one, the only, sean connery, while the other one sports jolly roger moore.. never say never again vs octopussy, and i am one of the original james bond fanatics--so, how can i possibly miss out on the opportunity to attend the world premiere of connery’s flick?
the premiere was to be held at the mann national theater in westwood california.. was i excited or what?!.
tickets were impossible to obtain--unless--you had contacts in “the biz” and fortunately for me, i did.
It was 5 years later, 1988, when Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Michael Caine and Steve Martin appeared. Here, two con men try to settle their rivalry by betting on who can swindle a young American heiress.
I won't spoil it as to who wins.

as far as i recall watchtower's new light doctrine was conceived from the very first issue of zion's watchtower and herald of christ's presence, 1879. c.t.
russell used it then as an alibi for his failed 1874 and 1878 dates.
1874 was eventually replaced by 1914 and the rest is history.. well, they've been using the alibi ever since -- for the some 24 failed events that were supposed to happen in 1914 to the 49 failed dates over the years.. at the heart and soul of watchtower's "new light" teaching is proverbs 4:18, ".

Good thought, Sea Breeze.
As to those 24 failed events that were supposed to happen in 1914 (News Flash, not one of them was the single most significant event of 1914, the beginning of the "Great War" -- WWI)

At the heart and soul of Watchtower's "New Light" teaching is Proverbs 4:18, ". . . the path of the righteous is like the bright morning light that grows brighter and brighter until full daylight."
Few actually give thought about the person who actually penned those words.
Few think about the behavior of its author and how he completely ignored and grossly violated one of the ten commandments, "you shall not commit adultery". Yes, they had indeed been in effect for some 500 years before his day.
Few admit that he had more spouses than Hollywood celebrities Mickey Rooney, Liz Taylor, Larry King, and Zsa Zsa Gabor -- all combined.
Few mull over the fact that, by his orders, no less than 3 men were put to death.
Even fewer think about how so-called Watchtower's New Light teaching simply does not undo flip-flop doctrinal contradictions which are like a strobe -- flickering some 10 times for certain teachings. Think resurrection of the ancient Sodomites, the Superior Authorities of Romans 13, the transplanting of human body parts, the identiy of the Al´pha and the O·me´ga, the 1,250 prophetic days -- and others.
Most, however, are able to identify exactly who he is by his popular defining quality -- wisdom. ". . . Sol'o·mon’s wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the people of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt. He was wiser than any other man, . . ." (1 Kings 4:30, 31)
Whether or not we have a timeline for Solomon's activities, we simply don't know when he was wise and wrote all those "inspired words" vs. when he had the 1,000 wives / concubines and when he had those men put to death. That said, it is reasonable to conclude that he was certainly not as wise as some think. It's also an unwise conclusion that "the bright morning light that grows brighter and brighter until full daylight" has even the slightest bearing in our day on whether Watchtower teachings evolve in one way or the other.
To most, "New Light" has morphed into "Old Alibi".
before you answer; .
think about how they could care less how many families are broken up just to retain their power.
how they could care less if members are driven to suicide because of the deep programming and severe depression or strained family situations.. how they would rather let members die in order to retain their power and refuse to acknowledge their faulty bible reasoning regarding blood.. i could go on and on and on.
how everyone's afraid to correct Simon for misunderstanding my post
Before you paint everyone with the same brush, You better check my post on page one.

Hey, Simon, didn't you even read Tenacious' post?
"Needless to say, they are guilty of all of these things. Yet . . . . viewing them from the humane point of view, I hate to say it, and regardless of what I may have said in my previous postings, I would intervene and help them."

there is certainly a problem with that and the governing body will get right back to you on that using their new light alibi
so my brother who never got baptized went to the convention today (went to make mom and dad happy since they are devastated that i am out) and he got very upset during the baptism talk and walked out because 3 of the candidates were under the age of 12 years of age.

i really wish the usa government would start cracking down on this cult..
